Teaching/Work with Young People

I am an Education Associate Practitioner at the RSC and have acted as Director Mentor on school productions of Julius Caesar (2017) and Macbeth (2018).

In Spring 2017 I directed a final year production of Mother Courage at Fourth Monkey drama school.

In 2016 I was a National Theatre Connections Director, working with schools on their festival performances.

I was a regular drama tutor at Marlborough College Summer School between 2011 and 2015. I ran both Theatre Making courses for young teenagers and Acting for Adults. The courses run for five consecutive half days and culminate in an informal performance for friends and family.

Reviews

“Just to say a big thank you for a fantastic week – I have thoroughly enjoyed myself and only wish that it was a full day’s course so I could totally immerse myself for the whole day.  You are a very good teacher and I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say that you put  us all at ease and brought out the best in all of us.  Thank you once again – I would definitely be interested if you should run a follow up course next year.” Sherry Bayley 2012

“Loved the course – thanks again!” Rachel Green 2012

“I thought you ran the show with very considerable skill.  We were a pretty mixed bag and it was obvious everyone, without exception, was having a lot of fun.  All down to you and thank you. Hope to see you next year.” Michael Rand 2012

“Thank you for a brilliant, inspirational, thought-provoking, fun week.  I really enjoyed it so much.  If you run this course next year I may well be doing it again!” Kathy Sterry 2012 (she did!)

“I can’t praise this course and its instructor enough.  Amy Draper was an excellent teacher who possesses broad, deep knowledge of drama which she communicated to the group with great passion and an ever present sense of fun.  She was continually empathetic to the needs (and insecurities around acting) of the group from which she coaxed characters and a performance at the end of the week as well as demystifying the subject.  In summary she was a perfect leader for us… I was inspired by Amy and her teaching and won’t hesitate to enthusiastically sign up again for any of her courses at future summer schools.” James Clarke 2014

I tutored at Arts Depot on their Actors Studio course. This ran weekly for ten weeks in Spring 2014 and I devised and led the classes for a group of adults of very mixed abilities.
